The Sr. Director, Finance – Mexico serves as a strategic finance leader and key business partner to the Country CEO and senior leadership team. This role provides financial leadership, governance oversight, and operational insight to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and long-term value creation across Mexico operations. The position operates in close alignment with regional and corporate finance leadership to ensure consistency with enterprise strategy and financial objectives.

The Sr. Director, Finance - Mexico is a senior executive leader responsible for the strategic direction, governance and performance of the corporate finance function. This role partners closely with the regional and executive leadership team to drive financial strategy, ensure strong financial controls and compliance, enable scalable growth, and support long-term value creation. The role provides both strategic leadership and hands-on oversight in a complex, multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop financial strategies that support the company's long-term business objectives and growth targets
  • Lead the financial planning and budgeting process, providing recommendations on profitability, cost management and investment
  • Monitor and report on key financial performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring the financial health of the company and meeting financial targets
  • Oversee financial analysis, pricing strategies, and profitability optimization
  • Oversee the timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with legal and regulatory standards, ensuring accuracy, transparency and compliance with both Mexican accounting standards and international standards (IFRS)
  • Develop processes and ensure a strong focus on working capital and cash flow management
  • Identify tax risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, including transfer pricing, tax audits, any disputes with tax authorities or other risks that could impact the company's operations
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of tax filings, including corporate income tax returns, VAT filings, and other statutory tax reports in compliance with Mexican tax and other statutory regulations
  • Ensure that robust internal controls are in place to prevent errors, fraud, and misstatements in financial records and tax filings
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring audits and inspections are conducted smoothly and in compliance with legal and fiscal standards
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Build a high-performing team by providing training, development opportunities, and performance evaluations
  • Implement and monitor compliance programs, ensuring all departments follow financial policies and legal requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA is a plus
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or equivalent are highly preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role such as CFO, Finance Director, or similar
  • Ideal candidates will also possess at least 5 years of experience in the logistics industry (contract logistics, freight forwarding or ports and terminal)
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements, including experience with SAT filings and audits
  • Experience with statutory reporting requirements under NIF (Normas de Información Financiera) and IFRS standards
  • Prior experience working with multinational companies or organizations with complex financial and tax structures is highly preferred
  • Deep understanding of financial and tax legislation in Mexico, including corporate tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and other regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a finance team
  • Excellent communication skills, both in Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate complex financial and tax information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial software (SAP, Oracle, etc.), accounting tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
