Global Director – Strategy & Development, Contract Logistics (Vertical Solutions)

The Global Director – Strategy & Development, Contract Logistics (Vertical Solutions) provides global leadership and subject-matter expertise across DP World's Contract Logistics business, combining deep Contract Logistics capability with deep expertise in one or more strategic industry verticals.

The role is embedded within the Commercial function and is deliberately positioned close to customers, markets, and active commercial pursuits. Its effectiveness depends on continuous engagement with customer strategies, market dynamics, and live sales opportunities.

The role is critical to DP World's global Contract Logistics growth agenda, acting as the bridge between vertical market understanding and scalable Contract Logistics solutions. By translating industry-specific requirements into repeatable, compliant, and differentiated logistics solutions, the role enables sustainable growth, diversification, and competitive advantage across global markets.

The role focuses on defining vertical strategies, shaping scalable Contract Logistics solutions, and proactively enabling global and regional sales teams throughout the full Contract Logistics sales lifecycle. Acting as a solution authority and trusted advisor, the role supports complex commercial pursuits by ensuring solution quality, operational feasibility, and commercial relevance.

This role does not carry sales targets, customer ownership, or deal-closure accountability, but is a critical contributor to commercial success through market insight, customer proximity, and solution enablement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain global vertical strategies for Contract Logistics, grounded in direct customer engagement, market insight, and commercial priorities.

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of end-to-end Contract Logistics requirements within specific industry verticals, informed by customer interactions, sales pursuits, and market exposure.

  • Monitor market dynamics, industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitor offerings to inform vertical roadmaps and investment priorities.

  • Act as a commercial thought leader, shaping how DP World positions and differentiates Contract Logistics offerings in the market.

Commercial & Sales Enablement

  • Be actively embedded in the Commercial organization, working closely with Global and Regional Sales, Key Account Management, and Commercial Leadership.

  • Proactively support global and regional sales teams across the full Contract Logistics sales lifecycle, including early customer engagement, opportunity shaping, RFQs, solution positioning, and internal approvals.

  • Act as a market-facing subject-matter expert, engaging directly with customers where appropriate to understand requirements, articulate solutions, and build commercial credibility.

  • Ensure solutions are shaped by real customer needs, market realities, and competitive dynamics, not solely by internal design assumptions.

  • Support internal governance processes by validating solution feasibility, scalability, compliance readiness, and commercial attractiveness.

  • Improve bid quality, speed, and win probability through clear solution frameworks, reference models, and commercially grounded approaches.

Solution Leadership & Differentiation

  • Serve as a global solution authority for Contract Logistics, combining core CL expertise with vertical-specific market knowledge.

  • Lead the commercial shaping and industrialization of scalable Contract Logistics solutions, working in close partnership with Solution Design, Engineering, and Operations teams.

  • Ensure solutions are commercially relevant, operationally robust, cost-efficient, and compliant, and can be deployed consistently across DP World's global network.

  • Drive innovation by translating customer feedback, market insight, and operational learnings into commercially viable solution enhancements.

  • Clearly distinguish between commercial solution ownership (this role) and technical design execution (Engineering / Solution Design teams).

Capability & Knowledge Development

  • Codify commercially proven "pockets of excellence" into global playbooks, templates, methodologies, and toolkits that sales teams can readily deploy.

  • Capture customer-led insights, lessons learned, and proven operating models from live pursuits and implementations.

  • Ensure regional teams have access to bid-ready, market-tested solution assets that accelerate growth and reduce execution risk.

  • Build and lead global Contract Logistics vertical communities that strengthen market-facing expertise and commercial capability.

Stakeholder & Enterprise Leadership

  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across Commercial, Operations, Engineering, IT, Pricing, Sustainability, Quality, Safety, and Digital teams.

  • Partner closely with DP World's Freight Forwarding, Ports & Terminals, and Digital businesses to enable integrated, end-to-end logistics propositions.

  • Represent DP World, alongside commercial teams, as a thought leader in Contract Logistics and vertical supply chain solutions with customers, partners, and industry forums.

  • Provide strategic, market-informed insight to senior leadership to support enterprise-wide growth, diversification, and capability development.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in Contract Logistics, global supply chain solutions, or complex logistics environments, combined with deep expertise in at least one strategic industry vertical.

  • Strong background in commercial roles with demonstrable exposure to customers, markets, and complex sales environments.

  • Proven track record in designing and enabling customer-centric Contract Logistics solutions in close partnership with sales and operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate market and customer requirements into scalable, standardized global solutions.

  • Extensive experience supporting complex RFQs, solution shaping, and pricing strategies in multi-country environments.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership level.

  • Strategic, analytical, and commercially astute mindset with strong operational credibility.

  • Proven ability to operate effectively in complex, matrixed, multicultural organizations.

  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
