Job Purpose: Support administration of tele sales processes and activities to achieve revenue growth and sales objectives, and enhance customer satisfaction in line with business plans, financial objectives, group guidelines and policies.

Typical Business Titles: Inbound/Outbound Telesales Rep, Telemarketer

Differentiator: Individual contributor with the ability to work under moderate supervision. Requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools obtained through work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Problems are typically of a routine nature, but may at times require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Key Tasks:

  • Under general supervision, sell organization's products/services to small to mid-sized accounts through inbound or outbound calls
  • Make/receive calls to an established account base and identify prospective customers; follow up and close leads
  • Take orders, manage relationships and prepare appropriate documentation
  • Handle incoming customer calls to sell new or additional products/services and to enhance customer satisfaction and retention
  • Handle inquiries generated by advertising
  • Undertake campaigns to establish and qualify leads and prospects for the field sales force
  • Support key account sales teams and provide ongoing service and support in named accounts
  • Refer leads to outside sales force under specific circumstances, or may work jointly with an outside sales representative on some accounts
  • Coordinate with sales teams on implementation of sales plans, including special promotional efforts
  • Check and correct problems that are not immediately evident in existing systems or processes without modifying defined methods, standards and/or procedures
  • Convince external parties to accept complete proposals and programs, typically others have an interest exists to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches
  • May provide functional guidance, advice or training to less experienced inside sales/tele sales positions

Stakeholders: Explain facts, practices, policies, etc. to others within the organization adhering to narrowly defined procedures, standards and guidelines. Support and interact primarily with colleagues of own team. Communicate information that requires some explanation or interpretation. Address task-related issues appropriately to maintain work relationships.

Management Responsibility: Individual contributor without direct responsibility for leading others.
