General Specialist Global Accounting & Controlling (m/f/x)
The department "Global Controlling & Accounting Governance" is part of the Finance DHL eCommerce (eCom) business unit and is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal and external financial and non-financial regulations within the eCom division. In addition, it defines policies and process standards within eCom for Accounting, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), ICS (Internal Control System), and Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support of highly complex M&A projects of the eCom division with significant economic relevance, in cooperation with and under the steering of Corporate Finance; steering of the post-merger integration of newly acquired companies as the Project Management Office (PMO); and steering of the collaboration with minority shareholdings in joint ventures, as well as further development of ESG reporting for the eCom division.
- Execution of Financial Due Diligence within M&A projects
- Building an understanding of the business, its risks and opportunities, market environment, pricing, operational structure, and its development
- Steering external advisors in obtaining financial key figures
- Analysis and review of financial KPIs
- Reviewing and analyzing a Financial Fact Book as a sound basis for management decision-making
- Creation of Business Cases within M&A projects
- Development of an independent or joint business plan for the investment proposal
- Preparation, analysis, and evaluation of synergy and integration cost calculations
- Integration of Financial Due Diligence results into the business plan
- Steering of all internal and external stakeholders to ensure all findings are incorporated into the business plan
- Support of Corporate Finance in preparing the shareholder and purchase agreement by providing relevant financial data and information
- Steering of the post-merger integration of newly acquired companies as divisional PMO
- Central point of contact for the CFO and local subject-matter experts for all finance-related questions
- Tracking obligations to be fulfilled after closing
- Ensuring the implementation of a financial reporting framework to meet DHL Group's essential reporting requirements, including KPI definition and system integration
- Supporting country organizations in fulfilling internal requirements for financial controlling and complying with internal standards (e.g., compliance, rebranding)
- Continuous monitoring of financial KPIs (e.g., integration costs)
- Participation in company-wide Corporate Post Closing Review Meetings and Boards
- Management of collaboration with minority shareholdings in joint ventures
- Central point of contact for the CFO for all finance-related matters
- Ensuring compliance with the agreed shareholder contract terms and adequate funding
- Joint development and regular updates of the business plan
- Ensuring monthly transparency, e.g., through preparation of P&L reports, volume reports, cost analyses, cashflow analyses, and compliance with internal reporting obligations for minority shareholdings
- Acting as a business partner for strategic topics with potential impact on shareholder agreement clauses, in close coordination with the legal department
Professional Requirements:
- University degree with a focus on finance or a comparable qualification
- Many years of professional experience in finance with a focus on M&A and corporate integrations, preferably in an international environment and/or management consulting
- Experience and proven competence in advising and managing global and cross-functional projects
- Experience in ESG is desirable
- Very good English skills, knowledge of German is an advantage
