Vacancy: General Manager

At DHL Supply Chain South Africa we're looking for a General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for the overall smooth operation of the VW site, ensuring alignment with KPIs and customer expectations. This role is accountable for maximizing weekly, monthly, and annual performance by providing effective leadership, fostering a motivated workforce, and delivering operational excellence across all areas of the site. A key focus is placed on customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and upholding DHL as a great place to work.

Key responsibilities include oversight and management of all operational areas, including production-related functions such as Body Shop, I-Stores, BSM, Paint and General Store, LTD, Engine Plant, Planning, Assembly, Tyre Stores, Press Shop, Component Plant, Paint Shop, and CMW. Support functions include Administration, Quality, Finance, Health & Safety, and Maintenance. Infrastructure responsibilities related to warehouse and office layouts. This role also ensures full compliance with DHL standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. It actively promotes the values of DHL's Strategy 2025—focusing on Globalization, Digitalization, E-Commerce, and Sustainability—within the business unit.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Manage excellent continuous customer relationship
• Manage and achieve budget revenue and profit
• Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to meet contractual terms and DHL expectations
• Coach and drive BU staff during all work related
• Initiate a strategic plan for the development of customer accounts
• To manage and resolve quality related issues with regards to the client's product
• Follow Standard operating procedures when following duties
• The ability to adapt easily to different cultural and language barriers
• Project Management
• Identify and develop the potential of all team members
• Driving and maintaining an overall smooth operation within dedicated areas
• House Keeping
• To maintain a positive working environment

Qualifications

• Matric

• Professional university degree in Logistics

• Educated to University Degree level or equivalent professional qualification

Experience

5-6 years' experience in Automotive Supply Chain

Skills/Competencies

• Operational Management at a senior level
• Experience in succession planning & development of reporting employees
• Experience in People Management
• Good understanding of supply chain
• Knowledge of clients' requirement and customer needs
• Management of people processes and systems
• Finance/Profit & Loss Management
